What Your Charity Must Do

Does the agreement require your charity to provide specific goods or deliver specific services?

Yes if you must: - Run defined programmes or events (e.g. workshops, research, construction) - Provide tangible items (e.g. equipment, materials) No if the grant is fully unrestricted and only needs basic reporting (e.g. core running costs).

Does the agreement use specific phrases suggesting a direct payment for what you must do?

Look for terms like "in consideration for," "in exchange for," "payment for services," etc. - "in return for the services..." - "as consideration for..." - "payment for the provision of..." - "subject to delivery of..."

Are there performance targets (KPIs) your charity must meet to receive or keep the funding?

Yes if payment depends on hitting targets: - "serve 100 clients" - "achieve X% outcome" - "milestone payment" No if it's only standard reporting (e.g. quarterly updates).
